Term #1 of 5 over! Whooo! And in such a huge way. In four hours I'll be on a plane to Zurich and then home to Boston and Block Island for almost three whole weeks of seeing friends, writing, client work and reading in front of the fire. I cannot wait for the Block Island weather. And that is a lie.
For the most part this last term has been better than I could have hoped for. A few of the professors could have maybe put in a little more effort but otherwise the people have been unbelievable. We got our new study teams for Term 2 last week and my new team looks solid: Greg (Poland), Isabel (Brazil), Mjrdjan (Serbia), Pepe (Columbia), and Dattatreya (India). My only real goal is just that we beat Sofia at everything she does. Also now looking at a few opportunities for internships and case competitions next year, one in New York for the summer looks really encouraging.
But whatever, last night I uploaded our final marketing take-home exam at 23:00... and like that vacation is on.
This break will be nice. Last week finally got the go-ahead to start building out the student clubs' websites, but even better, ESADE's MBA administration finally signed off on Friday as my first real, actual client. I couldn't be more pumped. It means there's a lot of work to get done over the next two weeks to get my design team what they need, but that's great, it'll just mean working in front of the fireplace on Block Island doing a site review of the best MBA websites in the world instead of reading in front of it.
I do so just want to read, though. The Song of Ice & Fire series just keeps getting better and better. Just started the third book and the thing weighs in at a freaking 1,100 pages. Can't wait for the HBO version of the first book in April.
Man, I remember pushing aside the idea of an International MBA back in 2007 due to a combined of lack of finances and faith in my ability to get into a decent school over here. Two and a half years later I'm here and just wondering just who the fuck that guy was and what was wrong with him. This life is just so doable.
Sleeping tonight at 106 Hudson Street. Dinner and drinks at Magoun's. Doesn't seem real. Off to the airport. Fingers crossed for no surprise bad weather or volcanos.
